Preparatory Course for the Diploma in Translation of the IoL Educational Trust (English into Italian)
The course prepares candidates for the IoL Educational Trust Diploma in Translation (English into Italian) by developing their skills in translating myriad types of texts from English to Italian. It is intended for native speakers of Italian who have an outstanding knowledge of language, culture, and social situations both in the target language and in the source language and who wish to become professional translators.
The Diploma in Translation (DipTrans, for short) is one of the most prestigious, internationally recognised credentials for professional translators.
Course Structure
The course is run entirely by long-distance learning, via e-mail and with tutorials via Skype. Course participants receive assignments from our centre, send in their translations, receive input and feedback, and attend individual Skype tutorials on problem areas arising from their work every 4 assignments. The assignments are sent ‘on demand;’ i.e., each student chooses dates and options for assignments depending on his/her schedule and commitment.
Student-Tutor Rapport
Apart from communication via e-mail, our tutors will upload a number of pages on the web in the Translation Academy section, whose sole aim is to support and inform its students by giving them access to important links to lexicons, articles, and databases free of charge. Tutors will post articles on translation issues for the benefit of students. Also, students who register for the WLS DipTrans Prep course will receive information related to dictionaries, time management for the exam, etc., from their personal tutors.

About the Centre
Williams Language Solutions is an approved Centre by the IoL Educational Trust in the UK. Approved DipTrans centres are listed on the IoL Educational Trust website in the Examination section. Tutorial support is organised by extremely competent linguists and professional translators in both languages concerned, with a personal, individual approach to each student.
Now at its second year, the preparatory centre cooperates with local examination centres to provide a support until the day of the examination for students who wish to sit the examination in the North-East of England.
